‘Plain for everyone to see’ – Ally McCoist reacts to bumper Rangers report
Ally McCoist has welcomed the prospect of Stuart Gibson providing cash investment for Rangers.
The Daily Record reported on Tuesday that the property mogul and lifelong Rangers fan is set to pump £20 million into the club, but is not interested in buying out Dave King’s majority stake.
And ex-Ibrox boss is keen on the idea of the Gers receiving a much-needed financial boost.
Speaking to the Scottish Sun, he said: “The club needs investment. There has been a level of funding already, of course there has, but to go to the next level they clearly need more investment.
“I don’t know very much about this guy to be honest with you. I’m a little bit surprised. I know Dave King has taken more of a back seat in recent times which is fine. Maybe it has been his long-term plan to come in and do his bit and then move on.
“Rangers are still well behind Celtic financially. They’ve been playing Champions League football for years and they’re in a good place.
“It’s plain for everyone to see that Rangers are behind Celtic in that regard.”

Would investment from Gibson be a good thing?
McCoist seems to have hit the nail on the head here.
Cash will never come in wrong for a club like Rangers, especially when we are still playing catch up to Celtic at the top of the table, and it would appear that Gibson only has the best interests of the club at heart.
It doesn’t appear that he wants to rock the boat too much, and if his intention is simply to come in and provide extra funding for the infrastructure and business model that is already in place, then it’s difficult to see how this could be a bad thing.
Hopefully something does come of it and it’s not just idle speculation.
