‘I’m sure’ – Ibrox Exclusive: Alex Bruce backs Gerrard to swoop for 25y/o this summer
We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…
Alex Bruce has revealed that he believes Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will make an effort to ensure that Florian Kamberi joins his side on a permanent basis.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender claimed that he has been impressed with what’s seen from the 25-year-old so far at Ibrox.
Kamberi arrived in Glasgow on a loan deal from fellow Scottish Premiership side Hibernian during the January transfer window.
And Bruce believes that the Gers could be tempted to pursue a full-time switch at the end of the campaign.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “Fair play to him, he’s come in and looked good.
“I’m sure Steven will be happy with him. Whether the price is right and whether they can agree a fee, that’s another story, but as long as he scores a few goals between now and the end of the season, gets some important wins with him in the side.
“Obviously with Jermain Defoe’s injury now it gives him less competition for places.
“It’ll be interesting, but he’s just got to keep doing his stuff on the pitch and I’m sure Steven will look to tie him up if he does well.”
Kamberi has made eight appearances for Rangers since arriving on a loan deal that is due to last until the end of the season.
So far he has scored one goal and registered one assist, with both coming the 2-2 draw against St. Johnstone in February.
