We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…
Alex Bruce has heaped praise on Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor for his “exceptional” form this season.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender detailed how vital the veteran keeper is to the Gers – not just as a stopper, but as an organiser too.
The 38-year-old has been a standout performer for Steven Gerrard’s men so far this campaign, keeping 13 clean sheets in 26 Scottish Premiership appearances for Steven Gerrard’s men.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “I played with Allan at Hull, and he’s an exceptional shot stopper.
“He keeps you on your toes, he’s always barking orders behind you as well.
“I think when you’re having sticky spells and you’re going into big games at this stage of the season, you need your experienced players who have been around and know what’s demanded both on and off the pitch.
“There’s no-one better for Rangers than someone like Allan McGregor. He’s been there, done it, worn the t-shirt.
“He’s a big player for them.”
McGregor has made a total of 47 appearances across all competitions for Rangers so far this season, conceding 35 goals and keeping an impressive 23 clean sheets.
