Ibrox Exclusive – Alex Bruce reacts to ‘huge’ Rangers blow ahead of clash v Bayer Leverkusen
We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…
Alex Bruce has claimed that Ryan Jack will be a “huge miss” for Rangers while he is sidelined with injury.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender suggested that the midfielder is exactly the kind of player Steven Gerrard needs fit and firing to drag his side out of their current run of patchy form.
The 28-year-old missed the 1-0 win over Ross County with a swollen knee, but Bruce believes that sooner he is available again, the better for everybody.
“He’s a huge miss,” he told Ibrox News.
“I played against him a couple of times and he just keeps everything ticking over. He’s a Steady Eddy, he’s the kind of character you want on the pitch to sort the problems that they’re having at the moment out.
“Characters like him are going to be a big miss for Stevie.
“He’ll be looking to get him back on the pitch as soon as he can.”
Jack has struggled with injuries of late, playing just three of the Gers’ last eight Scottish Premiership matches, and watching from the bench for the 1-0 defeat to Hamilton in midweek.
The Times report that Gerrard now faces an anxious wait to determine whether the midfielder will be fit enough to feature in the Europa League round fo 16 first leg clash against Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday evening.
