Ex-Premiership manager claims off-field decision from Rangers ace is ‘straight red flag’

Former Hibernian boss John Hughes has claimed Alfredo Morelos driving a Lamborghini will be a “red flag” for Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.

The Colombian has been at the centre of yet more controversy at Ibrox after missing out on last Saturday’s Scottish Cup defeat to Hearts because of internal disciplinary action brought about by his failure to return from a personal leave of absence on time.

And Hughes has suggested that the player’s choice of vehicle speaks volumes about his attitude.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, as per the Scottish Sun, he said: “You know what’s a red flag for me?

“We all want the good things right – driving a Lamborghini. See for me as a manager? That’s a red flag. That’s a straight red flag for me.

“We just sat and talked here – 24/7, we’ve got business to do, you live like a monk, you keep your head down, you’re sitting in the house at night.

“I’m saying to myself, ‘uh-oh’. You have to be humble and you have to keep your head under the radar. You’re talking about Glasgow. Any manager, Steven Gerrard…that’ll be a red flag to Steven Gerrard. Trust me on that.”

No, absolutely not.
This ridiculous agenda against Morelos has got to stop because it is slowly turning into a witch hunt.
Yes, it is true that Morelos has not been at his best lately, with just one goal since the winter break, and yes, it is far from ideal that he received an internal ban from the club, but what on earth does that have to do with the car he drives?
Morelos might not be firing at the moment, but if there’s one thing you cannot fault him for, it’s his effort and his passion on the field.
If you want an example of his work rate, look no further than the fact he averages 2.63 recoveries in the opposition half per game, as per Wyscout, 1.18 more than model professional Jermain Defoe.
Admittedly, Morelos’ unique temperament can spill over sometimes, but to suggest that it has anything to do with his motor is, quite frankly, ludicrous.
