‘Completely bossed it’ – These Rangers fans drool over ‘man of the match’ v Ross County
Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to express their appreciation of Joe Aribo following the Gers’ 1-0 win over Ross County on Sunday.
In another largely frustrating performance there were few obvious bright sparks for Steven Gerrard’s men before Ryan Kent’s defected strike ultimately made the difference in Dingwall.
But Aribo looked good throughout, and most importantly, looked to be putting in a real shift for the Gers.
During a torrid spell that has seen both their domestic cup and league hopes virtually dashed, some much needed grit and bottle was a welcome remedy for Steven Gerrard’s side.
That being said, we shouldn’t be overly surprised that the injection of gumption came from Aribo.
The Nigeria international has been in good form of late, even if many of his teammates have not been able to emulate him.
Even in the 1-0 defeat to Hamilton in midweek – a disastrous result by any metric – he managed to complete 87 out of an attempted 109 actions, as per Wyscout.
That 80% success rate was a vast improvement on his season’s average of 64.2%, and is somewhat unsurprising when you learn that he had a 94% pass accuracy rate and completed 9 out of 13 attempted dribbles.
If the Gers are to properly snap out of this rut, they need that kind of quality to shine, and at the moment, Aribo is becoming a standard-bearer for a side that is otherwise struggling massively.
