Chris Sutton issues Twitter verdict after ‘remarkable’ Rangers loss v Hamilton
Chris Sutton has accused Rangers of “lacking balls” after the Gers lost 1-0 to Hamilton on Wednesday night.
Steven Gerrard’s men fell further behind Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership, despite the Hoops also dropping points in a 2-2 draw against Livingston.
And ex-Parkhead man Sutton has gone as far as to suggest that the title race could now be a foregone conclusion.
Writing on his personal Twitter account after the matches, he said: “Remarkable night…
“Celtic show some balls against impressive Livingston to get a point…
“Rangers lacking balls again and lose at home to Hamilton…
“The league looks academical now…”
Is Sutton right?
As painful as it is to admit, it’s going to take something special for the Gers to catch Celtic now.
Thirteen points adrift is bad enough, but you simply cannot afford to be letting opportunities like this slip through your fingers.
Celtic will not drop too many more points this term, and that’s before we even get onto Rangers’ form.
The Bears have been shocking since the winter break, and have dropped points in five league matches now – not to mention them crashing out of the Scottish Cup to Hearts on Saturday.
Whatever has gone wrong behind the scenes has been nothing short of catastrophic, and there needs to be some serious reflection from those at the helm.
The only saving grace at the moment is that Europa League last 16 spot, but if the Gers play like they did on Wednesday against Bayer Leverkusen, it will quickly descend into a mauling.
