Report – Rangers trio set for summer Ibrox exit amid planned shakeup

Rangers trio Jordan Jones, Brandon Barker, and Jon Flanagan are all expected to leave Ibrox at the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail.

A report from the national outlet suggests that the Gers are set to clear away large amounts of deadwood in the coming months after their recent domestic collapse.

Steven Gerrard’s men find themselves 12 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and were dumped out of the Scottish Cup on Saturday after suffering a shock 1-0 defeat to Hearts.

And it is understood that the sudden dip in form that has pervaded the Gers since returning from their winter break could inspire the boss to shake things up at Ibrox.

Jones, Barker, and Flanagan are named as three examples of fringe players who could be headed for the exit door, with the latter’s deal in Glasgow set to expire in the coming months.

Is this likely to happen?

Honestly, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t.

All three of those players have struggled to get a look in in recent times, and it’s not immediately clear as to how their situations could change between now and the end of the season.

Taking Flanagan as an example, not only is he out of contract, but young Nathan Patterson is knocking on the door heavily for a regular match day squad place.

Even Jones, who has been desperately unlucky with injury during his first season at Ibrox, has struggled to establish himself since the winter break, and has just 25 Premiership minutes to his name since January.

Clearly changes need to be made in the summer, and offloading deadwood seems like the most logical place to start that process.
