‘Done deal’ – Pundit claims summer exit for Rangers star is certain to happen

Former Hibernian striker Tam McManus has claimed that Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has already “downed tools” at Ibrox and is angling for a move in the summer.

The Colombian was reinstated to the Gers’ starting lineup for the shock 1-0 defeat against Hamilton on Wednesday after being omitted from the XI for the Scottish Cup defeat to Hearts on Saturday because of internal disciplinary action.

The 23-year-old has also scored just one goal since returning from the winter break, and McManus is convinced that his mind is elsewhere.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer, he said: “Personally I think Morelos has chucked it. I think he’s chucked it now.

“I just think he’s downed tools. I think he’s downed tools since the break.

“He’s not looked the same player. I think he’s looked a little bit heavy.

“He’s got nowhere near the amount of goals he should be getting, he’s obviously turned up late.

“I think he’s got a transfer in his head. I think something has been organised and I think he’ll be away.

“I think he’s definitely going to be leaving, I think it’s a done deal.”

Has Morelos really downed tools?

Everybody seems to have an opinion on the striker, but the reality is that none of us know for certain what is going on behind the scenes.

In fact, the only evidence we have at the moment is Morelos’ apology for returning from his leave of personal absence late, and in that respect, if we take him at face value, you would have to say that it sounds as if he is eager to stay.

In it, he talks of being “grateful” to the Gers for the opportunities they have given him, and of how he is keen to show everybody how much the club means to him.

Those don’t sound like the words of a player who is itching to engineer a move away.
