Confirmed: Key Rangers talent available to face Hamilton

Alfredo Morelos will be available for Rangers when they face Hamilton on Wednesday evening, according to manager Steven Gerrard.

The Colombian was omitted from the Gers’ squad to face Hearts on Saturday after failing to return on time from a leave of absence earlier in the week.

But Gerrard has been quick to establish that the issue has been dealt with, and that he is eager to draw a line under it.

As quoted by the Scottish Sun, he said: “He [Morelos] has been disciplined internally, which he has accepted and he has shown remorse for his actions, letting his team-mates down and supporters down.

“He has accepted his punishment which will stay private for obvious reasons so yes, he is available for selection.

“I think it is important that we are not stubborn and let it fester and carry on. It is important that we move on from these situations, it is dealt with strongly, which it has been and we move forward.

How much of a boost will this be for Rangers?
Potentially, it could be massive.
The Gers were essentially left high and dry on Saturday, with Florian Kamberi cup-tied and Jermain Defoe only fit enough for the bench.
With that in mind, having Morelos available would have been a very welcome boost to receive, and one that could have prevented the shock 1-0 defeat inflicted on Gerrard’s men.
Morelos hasn’t been in great form since returning from the winter break, with just one goal in all competitions, but it speaks volumes that his dip in form has coincided with the Gers’ slump writ large.
He is vital to this side, and his average of 4.3 shots on target per game, as per Wyscout, illustrates just how much of a threat he poses.
Hopefully, this disciplinary action can be the jolt needed to snap him back into form, because when he plays well, the Gers generally play well too.
