Alan Hutton details one thing Peter Lovenkrands is ‘always’ saying about Rangers youth prospects
Former Rangers defender Alan Hutton has revealed that Peter Lovenkrands is “always” telling him about how exciting the Gers’ youth prospects are.
The Danish striker, who was a teammate of Hutton’s during his spell at Ibrox, currently works as a coach for the academy system in Glasgow, and is understood to be extremely encouraged by what he’s seeing.
Football Insider revealed earlier in the week that Steven Gerrard had promoted several youth players into his first team training setup.
And Hutton has delivered a telling piece of insight in relation to the update.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “Peter’s always telling me how excited he is about the players, getting the experience of going abroad and getting to play in all these different cup competitions.
“It’s looking bright, there’s not been too many over the years that’s come through so I think this crop, the excitement’s building about them and hopefully we can see more of them in the first-team.”
How good is this for Rangers?
It hardly needs saying really, but it could be fantastic.
Every club around the world, no matter what their status or history, looks to build a solid youth system, and it is a tried and trusted method of succeeding both on the field and in the transfer market.
We’ve already seen hints of just how promising this young group of prospects can be this season with the advent of Nathan Patterson and a senior debut for 17-year-old Kai Kennedy, but hopefully Lovenkrands’ confidence can translate into more players following them into the first team in the near future.
