‘That’s all I’m saying’ – Brown backs Rangers star for potential PL exit
Michael Brown has claimed it is “possible” that Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos will sign for Leicester City in the summer.
The 23-year-old hitman has long been linked with a move away from Ibrox, with Football Insider suggesting last month that both Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan were keen on snapping him up.
Since then the Daily Record have reported that the Gers have opened talks with their star man over a possible contract extension, though no agreement has yet been reached.
And Brown is not convinced that he will stay put at the end of the season.
Speaking to Football Insider, the former Tottenham midfielder said: “You come here [England] and where do you go? Mid-ranger [in the table?] A Burnley, or does he go higher, could he go to Leicester? It’s possible.
“That’s all I’m saying is, where does he go to have that same thing he has at Rangers or does he try and stay there and be a true legend?”
Will Morelos leave in the summer?
Honestly, who can say for certain?
The hope amongst supporters is obviously that he stays in Glasgow, but it’s hard to deny his talent, or for that matter the attention that it is bound to attract.
Even Morelos himself has hinted in interviews back in Colombia that there are teams interested in him, and that he sees his long term future elsewhere.
It also feels much more likely that a deal would be struck in the summer, as opposed to January.
That way, the Gers would have time to find a replacement, and hopefully soften the blow of his departure.
All of that being said, these contract talks are promising, and there’s no guarantee that Morelos won’t want to finish what he’s started at Ibrox and guide the Bears to a league title.
As those hopes grow ever fainter this year, who’s to say that he doesn’t another season in Glasgow left in him?
