Chris Sutton aims tongue-in-cheek Twitter jibe at Rangers after 3-2 win v Braga
Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to aim a tongue-in-cheek jibe at Rangers following their Europa League comeback win against SC Braga.
The Gers overturned a two goal deficit at Ibrox on Thursday night, with a Ianis Hagi brace and a Joe Aribo strike ensuring a 3-2 victory.
The dramatic nature of the win led to wild celebrations from players, staff, and supporters alike, but Sutton was less than impressed with the scenes on display.
Writing on his personal Twitter account after the match, he said: “Well done to Rangers on a superb comeback and winning the Europa League”.
Does Sutton have a point here?
Nope, absolutely not.
Where do you even begin with this one?
After what we witnessed at Ibrox on Thursday night, how could you not be delirious with joy?
Sure, you never want to find yourself 2-0 down at home in the first leg of a European knockout clash, but as far as responses go, they don’t get much better than that one right there.
Is Sutton suggesting that supporters don’t have the right to be excited or happy about something unless they are lifting a trophy?
If he was, that would be the most ludicrous take on the beautiful game imaginable.
Yes, he does this sort of thing to wind the Gers up, and yes, he’s probably having a whale of a time watching everybody bite on social media, but in putting such a ridiculous viewpoint out into the public sphere – joke or not – he’s actually made himself look quite foolish.
