Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Borna Barisic will be available for his side’s Europa League clash against Braga on Thursday evening, much to the delight of many supporters.

The Croatian has been out of action for the past two Scottish Premiership matches, and was understood to be facing a race against time to make it back for the continental tie at Ibrox in midweek.

But, speaking during a press conference on Wednesday, Gerrard announced that his left-back will be in contention for a starting spot.

Rangers shared the news via their official Twitter account earlier in the day.

And it’s understandable as to why fans are so pleased.

Barisic has been a revelation for the Gers this season, far outperforming even the most optimistic expectations people will have had for him after a relatively inauspicious debut campaign in Scotland.

With 14 assists to his name already, he is a key attacking threat for the Bears, but his defensive work has been reassuringly solid too.

So far this term, as per Wyscout, he has averaged 4.14 interceptions and 6.88 defensive duels won per 90 minutes.

Those are very decent numbers, and coupled with his attacking prowess, illustrate a player who has become vital for this Gers side.

Having him back against Braga will be a massive boost.
