Rod Stewart delivers bizarre claim on ‘only way’ Rangers can stop 10-in-a-row

Rod Stewart has cheekily suggested that the only way for Rangers to win the Scottish Premiership title is to sell Alfredo Morelos.

The famed Celtic fanatic made the comment during a tongue-in-cheek conversation with talkSPORT host Jim White and former Ibrox defender Alan Hutton.

Hutton announced his retirement from the professional game on Wednesday, but was met with one last parting shot before he went.

Writing into the Jim White’s show on the radio station during Hutton’s announcement, Stewart said, as quoted by the Daily Record: “Jim, hi, the only way Rangers can stop ten in a row is to sell Morelos and bring Alan Hutton back into the back four”.

What is all this about?

Honestly, who knows?

Maybe Rod had one too many lager shandies after he closed out the Brit Awards last night, because this claim is absolutely ludicrous.

Now, obviously it’s just a joke, and to be fair to the Hoops fan, he goes on to congratulate Hutton on his playing career, claiming that he “loved” him whenever he wore the blue of Scotland, but perhaps it does give us a little hint at what Celtic fans would love more than anything – namely, Morelos to be sold.

He may never have bagged against the Hoops, but the 23-year-old makes the Gers infinitely more dangerous, and there’s little doubt that if the Bears do ever come to sell him, there will be as much jubilation at Parkhead as there will be heartbreak at Ibrox.
