Livingston aim cheeky Twitter dig at Rangers during Ibrox clash
Livingston seemingly took a cheeky dig at Rangers during the two side’s Scottish Premiership clash on Sunday.
The match was played 24 hours later than initially planned due to adverse weather conditions in Glasgow on Saturday afternoon, leading to a heavily reduced turnout yesterday afternoon.
Official attendance figures at Ibrox had the crowd down as a healthy 48,302, but a number of empty seats called that figure into question somewhat.
And during the match, the Lions’ official Twitter account tweeted: “48,302 announced as the number of tickets sold for today’s game – not sure how many of those are actually here, mind.”
Was this a bit naughty from Livingston?
Honestly, where’s the harm in a bit of lighthearted ribbing?
There’s clearly no malice meant behind the tweet, and the truth of the matter is that the attendance at Ibrox yesterday was a lot less than 48,302 people.
That’s entirely understandable though.
To rearrange a match at 24 hours notice, you’re always going to catch fans out, and there were bound to be swathes of Bears who simply couldn’t make it.
The reality is that the inflated figure is a reflection of how many people bought tickets for the game in the first place.
Whether it be season ticket holders who couldn’t make it, or travelling supporters who were caught out, there’s no doubt that if the game had been played when it was initially intended to be, then Ibrox would have been packed out.
All things considered though, no harm done, three points in the bag.
