‘Stunning’ – These Rangers fans react to ‘belter’ ace v Kilmarnock
Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to voice their appreciation of Scott Arfield after his stunning opener in the 2-1 defeat to Kilmarnock on Wednesday night.
The midfielder was rewarded for his Scottish Cup brace against Hamilton at the weekend with another starting spot against Killie, and he repaid Steven Gerrard’s faith in him massively with another top drawer strike that looked to have earned his side all three points.
But late strikes from Stephen O’Donnell and Eamonn Brophy saw the Gers unravel at Rugby Park.
The result meant that Gerrard’s men failed to keep pace with league leaders Celtic, who comfortably took all three points against Hearts in a 5-0 demolition.
The gap at the top of the table now stands at 10 points, although the Gers do have a game in hand.
From a Rangers point of view, however, Arfield’s brilliant display was just about the only silver lining on an evening that could well have realistically ended our title hopes.
The 31-year-old may have been in and out of the starting XI this season, but with three goals in his past two matches, it’s going to be more and more difficult for Gerrard to look past him when he is naming his side.
