Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was able to name Ryan Jack in his starting XI against Kilmarnock on Wednesday evening, much to the delight of many supporters.
The 27-year-old has been out of action since picking up an injury in the shock 2-1 defeat to Hearts on January 26th, but Gerrard confirmed during a press conference on Tuesday that he would be available for the away clash against Killie.
And so it proved, with the boss recalling the midfielder to the side.
The Gers have remained unbeaten during Jack’s four game absence from the first team, but did drop points in a 0-0 draw against Aberdeen, and have laboured at other junctures, including during the 2-1 victory over Hibernian last week.
Jack has been mainstay for Gerrard’s side so far this season, featuring 33 times in all competitions and registering five goals and four assists in those outings.
With a pass completion rate in excess of 88% so far this season, as per Wyscout, and a total action success rate in excess of 76%, it is evident just how consistent and significant he has been of the Gers this term.
Other notable selection choices include the omission of Borna Barisic, who Gerrard classified as having an “outside chance” of making the trip to Killie, and the inclusion of Scott Arfield, who has been rewarded for his brace in the 4-1 Scottish Cup win over Hamilton at the weekend.
