‘Certainly’ – Paul Robinson claims Rangers ace will be ‘top three’ target for several clubs
Paul Robinson has claimed that Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos will be a “top three” target for a lot of clubs in the summer transfer window.
The Colombian hitman has been in fine form in Glasgow this term, hitting 28 goals in all competitions for Steven Gerrard’s side.
And his exploits in front of goal have been so impressive that the player himself has suggested that Liverpool are “aware” of his progress, as per Radio Caracol, quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
And former England international Robinson is unsurprised by the claim.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “I think the world of football is aware of him, you can’t score the amount of goals and have the impact that you do like he does without making people aware.
“When people are looking for a striker in summer, he’ll certainly be a name in the top three of many people’s lists.
“I can’t see how he’d fit into the Liverpool system, with the three up top, where he’d play I don’t see a Liverpool deal happening but I suspect there will be plenty of suitors for him in the summer.”
Is Morelos likely to leave this summer?
At the moment, if we’re being completely honest here, the signs aren’t good.
January always felt like it might be a stretch for him to leave, but in the summer, when teams have more time and willing to get deals over the line, the Gers are going to face a monumental battle to get him to stay.
His goalscoring exploits are one thing, but it’s the all-round standard of his game that has impressed too.
So far this season, as per Wyscout, he has averaged five successful dribbles and 4.27 shots on target per game for the Gers, and it’s patently clear that he is a constant thorn in the side of just about anybody he comes up against.
The most worrying thing, however, is the fact that Morelos himself seems open to a move.
Speaking in that interview in his home country, he also said, as per the Scottish Sun: “If God grants me the opportunity to go to a good club, it will happen.”
To be frank, that is seriously frightening.
