‘No question’ – Neil McCann claims Celtic star is better than Rangers counterpart
Neil McCann has claimed that Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is a better player than Rangers counterpart Alfredo Morelos.
The Hoops hitman was on the scoresheet twice as his side beat Hamilton 4-1 on Sunday, while Morelos drew a blank in his first game back from a three match suspension as the Gers recorded a 0-0 stalemate against Aberdeen on Saturday.
And despite the South American’s superior scoring record this season, McCann is of the opinion that it is the Parkhead man who has more talent.
Speaking on BBC Sportsound, as per the Scottish Sun, he said: “He [Edouard] is a player. Honestly, he is a top class footballer that boy. He just gets better and better.
“I’ve had many a discussion about who is better, Morelos or Edouard and I’ve felt like Morelos is a more natural type finisher.
“But without doubt, there is no question Edouard is a better footballer in my opinion. He’s got more culture about him, he’s colder in the mind.
“It’s a different type of striker. Morelos will smash things, get them in the net. Most of Edouard’s goals are just so cultured, finished with aplomb, really beautiful goals.”
Is McCann right about this one?
It seems like an odd argument to be making, truth be told.
Here he is, completing disregarding the respective records of the two players in front of goal, and instead talking about the manner in which they put the ball in the back of the net.
Surely, the primary objective of any striker is to score goals. Does it matter how they manage to do that? Of course not.
And when it comes to which player is better at putting the ball past the keeper, there really is only one winner.
Morelos has one goal every 88 minutes for the Gers so far this season, as per Transfermarkt.
By comparison, Edouard has one every 138 minutes.
It really is no contest.
In other Rangers news, the Gers failed twice with late loan swoop for Liverpool talent.
