‘Special’ – Daniel Stendel claims Rangers man is on a ‘different level’

Daniel Stendel has claimed that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is on his way to becoming a special coach already.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s clash, the Hearts boss admitted that the former Liverpool ace is on a different level to many different names in the footballing world.

Stendel couldn’t help but heap praise on the Light Blues boss, who knows a win over Hearts will keep up their commanding position in the Scottish Premier League.

“I think he was a special player. He is on his way to being a special coach,” he told the Sunday Post.

“We were both professional footballers, although he was on a different level than I, and I watched some of his games in the past, especially some of the Champions League games and England games.”

Gerrard knows that a win over Hearts will put his side two points behind their fierce rivals Celtic, with a game-in-hand, having only lost a singular game all season in the league.

The Rangers boss won’t consider himself as special until he brings back home the Scottish league title to Ibrox, putting an end to the nine years of torment at the hands of Celtic.
