Rangers supporters have taken to social media to voice their appreciation of the club’s reaction to the charges being brought against them by the SFA.

The Gers were hit with two counts of failing to control their players and staff during their matches against Hibernian and Celtic last week, while coach Michael Beale was also charged for his behaviour in the aftermath of Alfredo Morelos’ late dismissal against the Gers, as per the Scottish Sun.

But the club has come out swinging in their response, releasing a statement that makes it very clear that they do not plan to accept the charges lying down.

As per the club’s official website, it reads: “Rangers is astounded by the notices of complaint issued by the SFA.

“It is concerning that it seems the governing body is seeking to hold Rangers to a different and more stringent code of conduct than that applied to others, with unprecedented charges being levied against the Club.

“Rangers fans can be assured that it is our firm intention to resist the charges in the most robust manner possible. Rangers will make further comment after the weekend.”

Strong, strong words indeed from the Bears, and it’s not hard to see why.

Regardless of your views on whether or not the charges are deserved – and an awful lot of people in the blue half of Glasgow would surely argue they are not – the manner in which the governing body has handled this is nothing short of ludicrous.

To wait 19 days after the match, and to then announce the charges just hours before a Scottish Cup tie, is, at best, unprofessional, but given the club’s reaction, could even be regarded as quite sinister.

What this means in terms of going forward is hard to say, but if there’s any truth to this statement, we could be in for a very dramatic battle from the Gers.

And supporters are absolutely loving it…
