Report: Potential deal for Rangers star exit emerging, final obstacle revealed
Roma have been linked with a move for Rangers defender Borna Barisic for quite some time now.
The Croatian international has been superb this season and even assisted both goals in the recent 2-1 victory over fierce rivals Celtic.
Recent events in Italy could have made it more of a desperate measure for the Serie A side to bring in a left-back.
Italian outlet Gazzetta has revealed that Roma are closing in on a deal to swap Leonardo Spinazzola with Inter Milan for Diego Politano.
That would mean that they have no direct replacement for Aleksandar Kolarov, and that’s where Barisic comes in.
According to the report, a deal for Roma to bring in Barisic is emerging, and there is only one obstacle yet to overcome – Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard wants to keep Barisic at Ibrox, and it is clear to see why, with the defender a vital part of his side and their push for the Scottish Premiership title.
At the end of the day though, money talks. It would be hard for the Light Blues to reject any offer above £10million. They could use that money to bring in at least three new players to strengthen their title push.
Either way, it could be positive. The Gers could either keep one of their best players or get a large sum of cash to replace and strengthen even further.
