‘I must admit…’ – Alan Brazil claims that he was wrong about key Rangers man

Alan Brazil has admitted that he was wrong to criticise Rangers manager  Steven Gerrard for his celebrations at Parkhead after his side beat Celtic.

The Gers boss was visibly ecstatic with the result, running onto the pitch, embracing his players, and screaming down the lens of a TV camera.

But while Brazil has claimed that he was initially sceptical over the extent of Gerrard’s delight, he has since seen the error of his ways.

Speaking on talkSPORT, as per the Daily Record, the presenter said: “Look at Steven Gerrard.

“I must admit, I was thinking ‘cor, he’s gone a bit too much here’.

“But the the next day I thought about it, I thought he was frustrated, they were the better team against Celtic in the Cup at Hampden.

“Now they’re playing well, they got the result, they hadn’t defeated [Celtic] there for nine, 10 years, and he couldn’t contain himself.

“Is there anything really wrong with that?”

Is Brazil right on this one?

Credit where credit is due, it takes a lot to admit that you’re wrong, especially for somebody like Brazil, who has essentially built a career on voicing his opinions.

In this instance though, he’s done the right thing.

Gerrard is allowed to celebrate a victory however he sees fit. He wasn’t hurting anybody, he didn’t particularly go overboard, and given the potential ramifications the result could have for his side’s chances of winning a first league title since 2011, it seems fitting that he shows a little bit of passion.

It’s just a real shame that other pundits like Chris Sutton, who called the reaction “embarrassing”, as per the Daily Record, can’t see this.
