Report – Rangers make contact with club over agreement for 20y/o ace

Rangers have informed Stoke City of their intention to open Pre-contractual agreement talks with striker Tyrese Campbell, according to the Daily Record.

The Gers have been linked with a move for the 20-year-old in recent days, but a report from Football Insider had suggested that they could miss out on the hitman as the Potters stepped up their own efforts to tie him down to a new deal.

Campbell scored three goals in two Championship matches over the festive period, a purple patch that is said to have steeled Stoke’s determination to secure his future at the club.

But it would appear that the Gers are undeterred, and have made contact with the English side to inform them of their intentions.

The report from the Record also suggests that Celtic are keen on the player, and have also approached Stoke to begin the process of talking to Campbell.

Would Campbell be a good signing?

First of all, it’s probably quite important to take all of this with a pinch of salt.

After all, Stoke should probably stilled be regarded as the club most likely to get Campbell to put pen to paper on a new contract.

That being said, this is still a positive move by Rangers, and one that shows the intent and ambitions of the club.

Campbell has a boatload of potential, and looks to have really kicked on over the past few weeks.

Is he the finished article? No, not by a long shot. But does he have the capability to become a real threat for whoever he ends up with? Absolutely.
