Report – English pair will make loan move for Rangers int’l this month, on one condition
Rangers could have something of a scrap on their hands if they allow Jordan Jones to go out on loan this month.
The 25-year-old has spent the best part of his first season at Ibrox in the treatment room after injuring his knee ligaments against Celtic back at the beginning of September.
That in turn has caused him to fall down the pecking order in Glasgow, and he has yet to make an appearance for the Gers since returning from injury in December.
Speculation has thus mounted about the possibility of him going out on loan this month in an effort to get him playing regular football again, and according to the Daily Record, there are a number of sides stepping up their efforts to land him.
Both Stoke City and Middlesbrough have been touted as potential destinations for the Northern Irish international, but it is now understood that both are indeed intent on making moves for Jones, should he become available.
Blackburn Rovers are also keen, but will face stiff competition from the their Championship rivals.
The report does suggest, however, that Steven Gerrard is still unsure about whether to not to let Jones go out for a temporary stint.
Rangers still have European duties to fulfil alongside their bid for domestic glory, and the boss may decide to keep the wide man in reserve as an insurance policy.
At this stage in his career though, you would argue that Jones needs to be playing week in, week out.
Circumstances have conspired against him at Ibrox so far, but the best way for him to get himself back on track is to go out and play at a decent level for an extended run.
It may be a risk for Gerrard to let him go, especially given the potential for fixture build-up later down the line, but if Jones can recapture the form that convinced the Gers to sign from Kilmarnock in the first place, then that can only be a good thing in the long run.
