Confirmed – Rangers flop completes permanent Ibrox exit
Rangers have continued their January clear out with another confirmed exit on Tuesday.
The Gers have already announced the departures of young forward Serge Atakayi and veteran midfielder Andy King, and sporting director Ross Wilson has been fairly clear that more could follow the pair out of the exit door at Ibrox, as per the Scottish Sun.
But one player who has already said his goodbyes is Eros Grezda after it was announced on Tuesday that he had rejoined Croatian side NK Osijek, as per the club themselves.
As per reliable journalist Bruce Archer, it is also understood that the continental club have paid the Gers “symbolic compensation” for the deal.
The 24-year-old signed from Osijek for £2 million in the summer of 2018, but has been frozen out at Ibrox this season, making no appearances for the senior side.
He leaves Glasgow with two-and-a-half years left on his original contract.
In truth though, it’s probably just a good idea to get him off the books.
It’s been very clear for a long time now that he has no future with the Gers, as per the Express, and if that is the case then the sooner you can get a player like that off the wage bill, the better.
In this instance, Grezda’s attitude hasn’t always been the most exemplary, especially after that spitting incident that prompted Gerrard to make the comments referenced in the aforementioned Express article.
Some may look at the fact that he has returned to his old club just 18 months after signing as an indictment of the Gers’ transfer policy, but the fact of the matter is that you can’t get every signing right, and as far as salvage missions go, getting anything at all for Grezda must be deemed a success.
