‘Onto a winner’ – These Rangers fans love ‘wonderful’ transfer report

Rangers have plunged head first into their business this January.

The Gers have looked to trim down some of the excess from their squad, and have already managed to get rid of young forward Serge Atakayi and loanee midfielder Andy King, as per Sky Sports.

But they haven’t stopped there.

According to a piece from the Scottish Sun, the Gers have managed to secure a permanent exit for Albanian winger Eros Grezda.

The 24-year-old has failed to make an appearance for the senior team at Ibrox this season, and was reportedly told that he did not have a future in Glasgow.

He will now return to Croatian side NK Osijek, the club from which he was signed for £2 million in August 2018.

The report also states that the Bears have inserted a sell-on fee into his deal,  meaning that they will be given a proportion of any future transfer fee that Osijek receive for the player.

Considering all of that, this can only be seen as a good deal for Rangers.

After all, what’s the point in hanging on to a player who evidently has no chance of convincing the manager of his worth?

It’s felt as if Grezda was doomed ever since an incident in which he spat on an opponent back in September, as per the Express.

Consequently, getting him off the wage bill is a fantastic move, as is the clause guaranteeing a percentage of transfer fees in the future.

You can look at Grezda’s deal and argue it’s been a failure – and you’d probably be right – but not every signing is going to be an Alfredo Morelos, and given how disastrous things have turned out, this actually feels like a pretty good salvage job from the Gers.

And it’s fair to say that a lot of fans are of the same opinion…
