‘Unbelievable’ – Alan Hutton hails ‘sensational’ Rangers ace after ‘poor’ Ibrox start
Rangers defender Borna Barisic has been a mainstay of Steven Gerrard’s starting XI so far this season.
The Croatian defender has appeared in 15 of the Gers’ 19 Scottish Premiership matches, and has impressed with a series of eye-catching performances.
The full-back bagged a brace of assists in last Sunday’s 2-1 win over Celtic at Parkhead, and his outings have prompted Andy Walker to dub him the best left-back in Scotland, as per the Scottish Sun.
But Walker isn’t only pundit impressed by his output.
Speaking to Football Insider, ex-Ibrox full-back Alan Hutton has revealed that he has been blown away by the 27-year-old’s progress.
He said: “He’s really gone from strength [to strength], a lot of fans would have thought after he started at Rangers he wouldn’t really last too long.
“He’s really came out the blocks firing after a poor start and show everybody how good a player he can possibly be. His assists are unbelievable at the moment.
“Everybody thought you had to worry about just James Tavenier on the right but it’s actually turned out that you have to worry even more about the left now because he’s in sensational form.
“His two assists against Celtic, the cut-back for Kent and then the corner was unbelievable.”
From a fan’s perspective, it’s hard to argue with him here.
Barisic has shown so much character to come back from a fairly underwhelming season last time around.
He played just 27 times in all competitions in the entirety of the campaign, and registered seven assists, as per Transfermarkt.
This time around, he already has 27 games under his belt, but has 13 assists.
The difference has been noticeable, and it’s pleasing to see Barisic get the recognition that he has worked his socks off to earn.
