Report – Rangers ready to subsidise loan exit for Ibrox flop this month
Rangers look to be primed and ready for a thorough clear out at Ibrox this January.
The Gers have built a large squad under Steven Gerrard’s tutelage, but it has been made clear they are keen to trim away some of the deadwood next month, as per The Athletic.
One position in which they are particularly well-equipped already is out wide, with the likes of Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent impressing on a weekly basis, and Sheyi Ojo, Jordan Jones, Brandon Barker, and loanees Glenn Middleton and Jake Hastie waiting in the wings, so to speak.
One man who certainly doesn’t have a chance of forcing his way into his manager’s plans, however, is Eros Grezda.
The Albanian has yet to feature in the Scottish Premiership so far this season, and according to a report from Football Insider, Rangers are so desperate to get rid of him this month that they are willing to subsidise his loan exit from the club.
It is understood that Dave King and the board are willing to pay a portion if his wages at any new club he may join as opposed to risking having him stuck in Glasgow for the second half of the season.
This feels like the only way that the club are likely to offload him this month.
After all, a permanent exit for any kind of meaningful fee is probably off the table unless he is playing regular first team football, and there is almost zero chance of that happening should he stay at Ibrox.
Similarly, the fairly large wage he was given when he joined the Gers means that any loan deal is almost certain to be derailed unless there is some kind of sweetener for the side taking him on.
This could prove to be a necessary evil for the Bears.
