‘Attractive prospect’ – Robinson claims choice is clear for Rangers ace over potential Jan exit

The biggest challenge that Rangers could end up facing this January is hanging on to some of their best talent.

The most obvious candidate for potential raids is free scoring talisman Alfredo Morelos, with Football Insider suggesting that Everton have set their sights on the forward in recent weeks.

But aside from El Bufalo, the Gers could also face a battle to hang on to midfield general Glen Kamara.

The Finnish international has become a real fan favourite since arriving from Dundee for a nominal fee of £50,000 last January, and his performances have been so eye-catching that he has attracted the attention of a whole host of Premier League sides, as per The Scottish Sun.

Sheffield United, Arsenal, Brighton Crystal Palace, Burnley, Aston Villa and Championship big guns Leeds United are all credited with an interest, but according to pundit Paul Robinson, the 24-year-old should avoid a move to Villa in particular at all costs.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “It’s obvious they’ve spent a lot of money and if that’s the market they’re looking at, they’re not looking to spend much more.

“But they need signings to cover short-term injuries, but at the moment, I wouldn’t be in any hurry to leave Rangers.

“To be where Rangers are, the way they beat Celtic, to potentially win their first title in however many years…or fight relegation in the Premier League, I think Rangers should be a more attractive prospect at the moment.”

It’s hard to argue too much with Robinson’s point of view here.

After all, the Gers stand on the cusp of a historic season, and if Steven Gerrard and his men can finally topple this Celtic monopoly in the Scottish Premiership then they will go down in history forevermore.

The Premier League is always going to be a big draw for a player, nobody’s disputing that, but if Kamara is good enough then the bright lights of the English game will still be shining for him after he’s finished his business north of the border.

Let’s just hope he sticks around for a good while longer before leaving the Gers.
