Kris Boyd includes current Rangers trio in Scottish Premiership team of the decade

Rangers haven’t had the easiest of decades, it’s fair to say.

After a couple of title wins early in the ’10s, we all know what happened in the years after, and it has been a real battle for the club to reestablish anything resembling parity with bitter rivals, who were essentially able to run roughshod over Scottish football without a serious domestic challenger.

With that in mind, ending the decade where the Gers have, just two points behind the Hoops with a game in hand is a massive, massive achievement.

We all knew that this club was too big to keep down for too long, but it’s fair to say that Steven Gerrard has really accelerated the healing process.

And it’s testament to the Gers’ current squad that Kris Boyd has seen fit to include three members in his Scottish Premiership team of the decade.

Speaking to Sky Sports, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, the former striker picked out Allan McGregor, Steven Davis, and Alfredo Morelos in his XI.

When including Morelos, he also said: ” The way my team is set up, I need a goalscorer in there and I don’t think there is anybody better in the country right now than Alfredo Morelos.

“Plus he’s got an unbelievable song.”

Boyd then launched into a little rendition of the popular “Buffalo Soldier” chant that often rings around Ibrox.

Dodgy singing aside though, who would have thought that the Gers would be in anywhere near the kind of position to have a trio of faces in a top flight team of the season after the torment they’ve had to endure.

What’s more, who could have foreseen the Bears having the advantage in the Premiership title race going into the winter break just a handful of years after such a devastating blow?

This is a big, big deal, and everybody associated with this wonderful club should be very proud of the achievement.
