‘Doing my head in’ – These Rangers fans slam player in first half v Celtic
Rangers came out swinging in the first half against Celtic.
There may not have been a great deal in the way of clean cut chances in the opening exchanges, but there was plenty of energy and battling spirit from Steven Gerrard’s men, and it was eventually rewarded with a superb strike from Ryan Kent.
That strike came shortly after an immense penalty save from veteran stopper Allan McGregor.
The Bhoys then drew level after hugely fortunate goal for Odsonne Edouard that deflected off the Frenchman’s hand.
One player who didn’t quite manage to embody that guile, however, was Joe Aribo.
The youngster has looked like a new man since making the move out to the right side of attack, and he bagged a wonderful goal against Hibernian just before Christmas to illustrate exactly the kind of quality that fans can expect from him.
But in the first half against the Hoops, he looked a little flimsy in possession, repeatedly being outmuscled and occasionally being wasteful with his passes.
Moreover, there were a couple of moments where his hesitation seemed to cost him and his side the opportunity to get into positions to actually trouble Fraser Forster’s goal.
Nobody’s doubting that the lad has talent, but he has to learn to tighten up certain aspects of his game if he is to consistently be the game-winning talent that we all know he can be.
And that’s the opinion of many Rangers fans on social media too…
