Ryan Jack reveals why Rangers 'backed' teammate after Hibernian incident
Rangers continued their fine form over Christmas with a 3-0 win against Hibernian on Friday.
Goals from Joe Aribo, Jermain Defoe, and Ryan Kent blew away the home side in the capital, and it set up the Boxing Day clash with Kilmarnock perfectly.
The game was overshadowed by numerous incidents on and off the pitch, especially the red card picked up by Ryan Porteous for a challenge on Borna Barisic.
Ryan Jack recently opened up on the challenge which gave Rangers that advantage, and it was clear to see that he supported that decision.
“The challenge on Borna was a bad one and the ref did his job by sending the player off. He took the ball but the follow through caught Borna – and it was high,” he told the Daily Record.
“We backed Borna because we are all passionate and we are all in it together. As soon as there is a bad tackle on one of the players, it’s not nice to see. I’m sure the lads would all back each other up and the staff are no different.”
Barisic has been a standout performer in defence recently and has played a massive role in their success ever since the Betfred Cup final against Celtic.
With Filip Helander injured in that 1-0 defeat against their fierce rivals, the Croatian has come into the squad and even scored in the victory over Motherwell the game after that defeat.
It highlights the unity and strength in depth that Steven Gerrard has created for the Light Blues – something that will delight him.
