Full credit to Borna Barisic, not many people would have been able to keep their cool like he did against Hibernian on Friday night.

The Croatian was lucky to escape relatively unharmed by a shocking challenge from Ryan Porteous in the 3-0 Rangers win which saw the Hibs man deservedly sent for an early bath.

If that alone wasn’t enough, the 27-year-old was then very fortunate not be struck by a glass bottle that was seemingly thrown from the home end while he received treatment in the aftermath of that tackle, as per Sky Sports.

The whole incident was appalling, and marred what was an otherwise brilliant evening for the Gers.

Hibs need to act on this quickly and effectively, because there is simply no place for that kind of thuggish violence in the Scottish game.

But don’t let the actions of one idiot detract from the fact that Barisic put in a fantastic shift for Steven Gerrard’s men.

He was solid as a rock defensively and bright on the front foot, and provided a constant source of energy down that left wing.

Him and Ryan Kent look as if they’re starting to click again, and if we can get those two operating in tandem, it could be a superb thing to watch grow and develop.

For now though, all plaudits to a player who had to put up with more than most on Friday night, and who was justly hailed by fans everywhere…
