Joe Aribo’s move into Scottish football hasn’t necessarily been the smoothest transition.
When he first joined Rangers from Charlton Athletic, there were those, including his former manager Lee Bowyer, who questioned the wisdom of the move, as per the Daily Record.
A bright start in Europa League qualifying back in August was then followed by a patch of inconsistency in the Scottish Premiership, but it looks as if he has turned a corner recently, and he backed that up with a stunning strike against Hibernian on Friday night.
By way of celebration, the midfielder posted a photo of himself celebrating to his personal Instagram account, wishing supporters a happy Christmas while he was at it.
That in itself is nice, but nothing overly exciting.
What might be of more interest to the Ibrox faithful, however, is who popped up in the comments.
Aribo’s ex-Charlton teammate, and reported Rangers target, as per Sky Sports, Lyle Taylor was on hand to congratulate his former colleague, but it won’t be lost on the Bears that he is keeping an eye on things north of the border.
The hitman has turned down a new deal at the Valley, as per manager Bowyer via London News Online, and his availability has reportedly raised eyebrows in Glasgow.
Taylor is a classic centre-forward – rangy, pacy, and always lurking in dangerous areas.
With an average of 2.5 shots per 90 minutes in the Championship this season, as per Whoscored, not to mention five goals in nine appearances, it’s clear that he knows where the goal is, and judging by this latest post, he’s acutely aware of where Ibrox is too.
The Gers must pounce and bring him in, especially if he’s keen.
