Charlie Nicholas predicts Rangers v Young Boys clash

We’d rather this was a dead rubber tonight but what a match we’re in store for at Ibrox as Rangers take on Young Boys.

A draw is all Rangers need to qualify and they might even go through with a loss. But no one wants a tense night and we’re hoping for a comfortable victory.

There’s one good omen – Charlie Nicholas has finally nailed his scarf to the Rangers post.

He has predicted that Rangers will get the League Cup final out of their system with a 3-1 win, and he added that “Ibrox will alight with energy”.

Writing in his regular predictions column for Sky Sports, Nicholas wrote, “This group is wide open, Rangers just need to win – anything can happen here.

“It was another defeat against Celtic in the League Cup final, when they dominated and controlled the game, but just couldn’t put the ball in the net.

“Ibrox will be alight with energy, it will not be hard to pick them up. When you get an opportunity like this, you must not pass it up, and Rangers will not. They will be well pushed with desire and Steven Gerrard will get the final out of their system in this one.”

A win would see Rangers go through as group winners but only three points separates the four teams in the tightest of all 12 Europa groups.

Home advantage is massive tonight but there can be no complacency. Young Boys know they probably need to win to go through, but we think that could play into our hands.

Alfredo Morelos will have a big point to prove after Sunday and there’s no better or bigger stage for him tonight.
