Ibrox View: Defoe & Arfield to start – Predicted Rangers starting XI v Aberdeen
Rangers travel to Pittodrie on Wednesday night as they bid to go top of the Premiership ahead of the League Cup final on Sunday.
Rangers are level on points and just one goal off Celtic at the top.
It’s tough to predict the team that Steven Gerrard will put out tonight. He needs to put out a strong team and can’t take Aberdeen lightly.
He has a clean bill of health bar a new issue with Jordan Jones who is likely to miss both games.
However, an injury to Ryan Kent or Alfredo Morelos on Wednesday night would be disastrous.
Given that, we can see a situation where he rests both of these key players. Rangers beat Aberdeen 5-0 earlier in the season without Kent when Gerrard played Scott Arfield out on the left.
Morelos played on Sunday and we think he should be rested if Jermain Defoe is 100% after his recent injury.
The defence is one of Rangers’ big strengths at the moment and we think the back four and keeper will stay the same.
Greg Stewart, Joe Aribo and Ryan Jack will round up a team that’s strong enough to get all three points against Aberdeen.
Morelos and Kent can sit on the bench and come on if needed.
