Whatever Celtic can do, Rangers can do better and they cut the lead at the top of the Premiership to just one goal after hammering Hearts 5-0 on Sunday.

Alfredo Morelos got the first after 11 minutes with Ryan Kent making it 2-0 by half-time.

An own goal from Christophe Berra and two from Greg Stewart meant that Rangers sent out a very strong message ahead of two crucial games this week – away at Aberdeen on Wednesday before the League Cup final on Sunday.

The game was one-way traffic from the start, with Gers unlucky not to get a penalty after 10 minutes.

Steven Davis was at his absolute dominant, majestic best and the Rangers fans paid tribute to him after the game, with one saying he was “absolutely unreal”.

Another said he is “Twice the player Scott Brown is” – and he’ll have a chance to prove it on Sunday.

The 34-year-old might have taken some time to find his feet when he first moved to Rangers from Southampton, but he’s found them now – one fan said he was “playing with slippers and the cigar out” against Hearts he looked so comfortable.

Steven Gerrard must now decide whether to start him again on Wednesday after playing in the Europa and then on Sunday. We’d prefer him to be rested.

Meanwhile, here are the best reactions to his display on Sunday…
