The 3-1 win against Hamilton on Sunday didn’t tell the whole story and it was a scrappy performance from Rangers.
We weren’t expecting that when Ryan Jack scored early on but the Rangers defence switched off completely after 14 minutes and let Lewis Smith in to equalise from a rare Hamilton attack.
Connor Goldson was one of the guilty parties and he had a game to forget on Sunday after impressing before the international break – plenty of fans let him know as much on Twitter.
Thankfully, Ryan Kent popped up with a stunning goal just before half-time, a belter into the top corner, before securing the three points with a second in injury time.
Getting the three points was the most important thing but Steven Gerrard should take this as a warning and drum into his side that they can’t afford to take their foot off the pedal for a second this season if they want to win trophies this season.
BT Sport pundit Ally McCoist angered some fans when he said that Rangers would be ripped apart by Celtic in the cup final if Goldson and Felipe Helander defended like they did against Hamilton.
However, some supporters agreed with him and one wondered why Gerrard had four centre-backs if he was never going to play them.
Here are the best reactions from Rangers fans to Goldson’s display on Sunday…
Can't really say Coisty's wrong though mate. Goldson and Helander struggle with the artificial pitches and Goldson in particular has a horrible habit of allowing an extra bounce on any surface.
Both great players but if they play that way against Celtic, we'll lose. It's true.

Goldson was terrible but thought Helander had a decent game.

I'll defend him here. He loves Rangers, he just wants the best. Tav & Goldson were poor yesterday. And its been the same story for most of this season

Celtic fans being absolutely gleeful about prospect of Eduoard v Helander/Goldson in cup final tells you everything you need to know. Both shocking today. Honestly don’t understand why we have 4 centre backs if Gerrard has no intention of using the other 2 under any circumstances

Barisic was the best of the back four today, but none of them were good, Tav, Goldson and Helander were pulled all over the place, worst defensive display of the Season

Goldson and tavernier always seem to lose concentration. It has always bn a worry for me down that right hand side. Tbh I wld katic a few games with polster or Flanagan at right back and c how the defence gets on!!

Yous can lambast McCoist all you want, but he speaks the truth.
Tav and Goldson were EXTREMELY poor today, and if we play like that against Celtic, we won't be so lucky.

Agree whole heartedly with MCCoist, Goldson is becoming a bit of a bombscare. We were lucky we were not punished with a own if his defending today.
He looks tired I would bring Katic in alongside Helander
