'Embarrassing' – These Rangers fans react to national paper tweet about Morelos

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos scored his first goal for Colombia in their 1-0 win against Peru on Saturday.

He left it late, scoring in injury time at the end of the game, and while it wasn’t the prettiest goal – Morelos seized on a rebound from the keeper – it was a landmark one for the 23-year-old.

It came on the back of a rich run of form for the Rangers hitman, even by his lofty standards. He’s scored in the last three consecutive Europa League games and has scored three in the last two league games. His total for the season across all competitions for Rangers is already 22.

Morelos almost made it two in two internationals, after he fashioned a chance for himself brilliantly in the game against Ecuador on Tuesday.

Morelos pounced on a mistake by the Ecuador defence and shot near post only to see the keeper make a fine save (clip starts after 54 seconds).

However, many Rangers fans were angered after what they saw as negative reporting from the Scottish Sun.

They focused on his “miss” rather than the tenacious play that led to the opportunity in the first place, posting a freezeframe of his shot and claiming he missed a “golden chance”.

Plenty of Rangers fans jumped onto the tweet to let the paper know what they thought of its reporting on the Colombian hotshot.

In other news, Ferguson spot on about Morelos, ‘ridiculous’ valuation not as crazy as it might look
