Scouts watching as Docherty scores for Rangers in 3-0 win over Leciester

Rangers beat Premier League Leicester 3-0 in a behind-closed-doors game at Ibrox today, with Greg Stewart, James Tavernier and Greg Docherty getting the goals.

The game was a way to give some action to players who haven’t been playing, as well as giving a run-out to first-team players not involved in international action.

According to the Four Lads Had a Dream Twitter page, scouts were watching, with Docherty the main point of focus.

They claimed there would be a lot of interest in him in January both for a permanent as well as a loan deal.

The 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Shrewsbury, has been frozen out of the first-team this season and hasn’t made an appearance since mid-August in the League Cup.

He hasn’t been on the bench in the Premiership since the Hibs game on August 11.

The Blue Sea of Ibrox Twitter account posted the line-up for today’s win, which saw Wes Foderingham in goal, and first-team players Connor Goldson, Sheyi Ojo and Jermain Defoe play.

Nikola Katic was on the bench, along with Jon Flanagan and Stewart.

Rangers play Hamilton next in the Premiership on Sunday and they’ll be hoping that Celtic slip up on Saturday against Livingston, who have already beaten them 2-0 at home.

The two teams are level on points at the top of the Premiership.
