View: Win-win for Rangers as Leeds latest side to be linked with bargain buy
Glen Kamara has kicked into gear after a slow start to the season and it’s led to interest from other clubs in the player that cost Rangers just £50,000 in January.
Gerrard admitted the player was being watched ahead of the Premiership game against Livingston on Sunday, which Rangers won 2-0.
Talking in the Scotsman, Gerrard said, “We know he is getting watched now. And Glen can play at any level, with the right players and style around him.”
One of those interested parties is Leeds, according to Football Insider, who sent scouts to watch Kamara in action in the brilliant 2-0 win over Porto at Ibrox last Thursday.
That report claims he would be a target for the summer rather than January, and it’s unlikely that Gerrard would sanction any key departures midway through this season.
The Sun has claimed that Brighton, Aston Villa, Southampton and Crystal Palace are all interested in the former Arsenal player too.
It’s a win-win situation for Rangers, now. In Kamara they’ve got a player who can kick on and fire the club towards the Premiership title.
When the time comes, he will deliver the club a very healthy profit. It’s hard to believe that a player of his quality was bought for just £50,000, and it’s a huge credit to the current recruitment team that Rangers managed to bag him for such a tiny price.
