BBC Sportsound pundit Tam McManus has said that Rangers are much better equipped in attack than Celtic, with both Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe scoring for fun this season.

McManus made his point after the Wednesday night games when Rangers beat Ross County 4-0 and Celtic won 2-0 against St Mirren.

Morelos started at Victoria Park and added another two goals to his growing season’s tally.

He now has 17 goals across all competitions, while Defoe isn’t far behind with 13, including 10 in eight in the Premiership.

Rangers have the two top scorers in Scotland and it’s giving Steven Gerrard real options and depth with fixtures coming thick and fast.

Writing on his Twitter page on Wednesday night, McManus said, “Celtic need strong back up/competition for Édouard. Griffiths is miles better than Bayo and would push Édouard far more IMO. Look at the two main strikers Rangers have. Both pushing hard to start and scoring plenty goals when get a chance.”

Gerrard’s men are joint top of the Premiership with 28 points after 11 games.

The race for the title takes a break this weekend, though, with Rangers hosting Hearts in the Scottish League Cup semi-final on Sunday.
