Rangers winger Josh McPake scored the only goal of the game as Scotland Under-19s beat Germany 1-0 on Tuesday night – and fans were delighted.

McPake is currently on loan with Championship side Dundee but is due to head back to Ibrox in January.

Scotland looked in trouble in a one-sided first half at the Energy Check Stadium at Firhill, but that changed after the McPake goal.

The strike showed his eye for goal. He picked up the ball inside the Germany box, faded to cut inside before powering past the defender and firing the ball into the net from a tight angle.

The stunning win gives Scotland fans something to cheer after the senior side lost four in a row before recovering to beat San Marino 6-0 in their last outing.

It puts Scotland’s Under-19s top of their group on seven points after three games, one point ahead of Germany and three in front of Belarus.

Plenty of Rangers fans took to Twitter to hail their young hero on one of the biggest nights of his career.

The future looks bright at Rangers and McPake wasn’t the only young talent on show last night – Dapo Mebude, Kai Kennedy and James Maxwell all started too and one Gers fan said, “Great to see such talent coming through”.
