Alan Hutton has claimed that Alfredo Morelos could be worth between £15-£20million if Rangers looked to cash in on the striker.
Hutton was talking after the Europa League game against Young Boys on Thursday that Rangers lost 2-1.
Morelos scored the first goal of the game to give Steven Gerrard’s men the lead going into half-time.
However, they couldn’t hold on and Roger Assale scored from close range to level the tie on the night before Christian Fassnacht snatched the win in the 93rd minute.
Hutton was still left impressed by Morelos though and talking to Football Insider he said, “I thought he was brilliant the other night, a constant threat.
“Backing into defenders, he’s a really tricky customer to play against especially if you get too tight to him as seen with his goal, good ball down the line, the defender is too tight to him, and he finishes like any top-striker would do.
“I’m sure Rangers will be looking for a big number, got to be £15-20million, I would imagine Rangers would be looking for that as he is a massive asset.
“I don’t think they would be willing to sell him on the cheap as he gets them so many goals that he will be hard to replace if he did leave for the financial reward.”
Morelos was on the bench on Sunday as Rangers smashed Hamilton 5-0 to go top of the league after Celtic lost to Livingston 2-0.
Jermain Defoe scored a hat-trick to prove that Morelos has competition at Ibrox as best striker in the Premiership.
With Morelos and Defoe firing, and Rangers on top of the league, Celtic will be getting a bit nervous about their domination of the league.
