Youssef Chermiti could find himself cast aside at Rangers next season.

Those at Ibrox knew just how big this summer was going to be, but not many will have anticipated a managerial change being the biggest decision.

However, after it was reported that Danny Rohl was headed for Salzburg, that became the reality.

Rangers moved fast to identify his replacement, with Hearts boss Derek McInnes looking set to take over at Ibrox.

On the face of it, it looks to be a smart appointment from the Light Blues

However, it may prove to be the worst one they could make for Chermiti's sake.

Derek McInnes appointment to spell bad news for Chermiti

Had it not been for Chermiti's goals last season, Rangers would have been out of the title race much earlier than they actually were.

The former Everton star certainly found his best form last term, and will have been looking to replicate that in the next campaign.

But with McInnes now set to take over, his chances of doing so look slim.

Lawrence Shankland made the move to Rangers, and having played such a crucial role under McInnes at Hearts, it's almost certain that he will be handed a starting role.

For Chermiti, that means he is likely to be forced into settling for a role as a squad player, if he is willing to do so.

Could Chermiti leave Rangers this summer?

If McInnes is appointed, absolutely.

Last season was his best by a mile in his career, and there is a good chance that his stock will never be as high as it will be this summer.

With it looking unlikely that he will be handed the chance to build on that, there is every chance that he looks to capitalise on the interest that has been building.

Besiktas have been linked with a move for the Rangers star, as have several other European clubs.

It would be a blow for the Gers to lose him, but if Shankland is to become their starting striker, then it is remarkably hard to rule out an exit.
