Why Tuur Rommens has lost out as Rangers' summer transfer winners and losers analysed

Tuur Rommens will be one of the least happy members of Rangers' squad following the transfer window.

There has been a significant overhaul at Ibrox this summer, with Rangers bringing in 14 new arrivals.

With that level of change, players from last season's squad are certainly going to have new challenges to face, or could even receive a boost.

Derek McInnes had a slow start at Ibrox, but things are beginning to look up over the last few weeks.

And much of that could be down to the work done in the summer window, particularly towards the end.

As the closing of the window has now left a clearer path for certain members to either establish themselves or fall further out of favour under McInnes.

Five games into the campaign, the Englishman has started three of the league fixtures, with the two of those starts coming in the last two games.

The competition for places has seemingly got him playing to his best, with Rangers keeping clean sheets in those two games.

McInnes will be hoping he can remain fit for the majority of the season.

Another player who has won is Djeidi Gassama, and likely due to the change of manager.

The Mauritanian has been used on his preferred left-wing and the increased levels of performances have been clear to see.

Tuur Rommens' injury came at a poor time for the Belgian left-back, especially with Rangers bringing in James Penrice.

Early signs from the summer signing point towards the Scotsman having an important and consistent role under McInnes this season.

He has been one of the best performers under the manager so far this campaign.

When Rommens returns from injury, he may ultimately struggle to break back in and have the same guaranteed and consistent minutes he had after signing under Danny Rohl.

In a similar boat, Findlay Curtis could quickly find himself down the pecking order.

Djeidi Gassama has been in top form while Minsu Kim has started life well at Ibrox.

Curtis is capable of playing on either wing, but on the right, he also faces competition from Daisuke Yokota and deadline day arrival Badredine Bouanani.

It could be a tough year for the Rangers academy prospect.
