Nicolas Raskin is still facing uncertainty over his future at Rangers.

The Belgium international looked certain to depart Ibrox in the summer transfer window.

Raskin, off the back of an impressive World Cup with Belgium, was drawing plenty of interest from across Europe.

Teams in Spain, Italy, and England were all linked, while Besiktas failed with a late bid to take him to Turkey.

Ultimately, though, Raskin stayed, but the 25-year-old is out of contract in 2028 meaning Rangers are in dangerous territory with his future.

Former Rangers skipper Barry Ferguson addresse what he thinks will happen with Raskin in the coming months.

Rangers closing on Nicolas Raskin transfer decision

Raskin spoke to media about the interest shown in him during the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old said it had not be an issue re-focusing after a failed exit from Ibrox.

He also hailed the club and manager Derek McInnes for their conduct during summer of uncertainty.

Raskin did, though, play his cards close to his chest when it came to either a January exit or extending his Rangers contract.

Ferguson, speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, does not expect Rangers to cash in January, though admitted they will face a dilemma if a "ridiculous" offer is made.

He said: "I don't think they'll do business in January. If he was to leave it would definitely be in the summer unless a ridiculous offer comes in that they can't refuse.

"I don't think that would be the case and if he is going to go, it won't be in January in my opinion."

New Raskin contract or sell, it's that simple for Rangers

Rangers have made no mistakes in the past when it comes to not selling assets at the right time.

They simply cannot allow Raskin to wind down his contract and walk away for free in the summer of 2028 or for a nominal fee.

The best solution would be to agree a new contract, perhaps with some sort of gentleman's agreement that he will be allowed to leave for an agreed fee.

If that solution cannot be found, well then they have to sell in January because any later and his value is going to depreciate.
