Rangers knew they needed a new goalkeeper this summer and signed Ivor Pandur from Hull City.

The Croatia international moved to the Gers for £6million, with Jack Butland moving the other way for £3m.

After an underwhelming start to the season for the Light Blues, several new signings have slowly found their feet, and the 26-year-old shot-stopper is one of them.

Pandur has been exceptional for the Ibrox club recently, especially standing out in the two wins over Celtic.

While much of the praise has gone to Dujon Sterling and Olwethu Makhanya for the Govan side's defensive solidity, the goalkeeper has been influential too.

Derek McInnes' team have kept six consecutive clean sheets and the shot-stopper deserves credit.

Why Ivor Pandur replaced Jack Butland at Rangers

Rangers knew what they were getting in Pandur and he's starting to deliver.

The Croatian ace has been a long-term target for the Gers and they finally decided to make a push to sign him.

According to the Rangers Review on 1 October, the Light Blues monitored the shot-stopper during his time in the Netherlands and continued to scout him after he joined Hull in 2024.

During initial planning for the summer window, the Ibrox hierarchy were in agreement that a new goalkeeper was a "necessity".

After Butland's displays last season, management believed the Glaswegian outfit needed someone in goal who could offer better options in build-up and show more authority when claiming crosses.

Pandur is also seen as having a bigger presence than Butland despite the difference in stature, with the Croatia international just over six feet.

Ivor Pandur contract assessed at Ibrox

Rangers technically had a net spend of £3m on Pandur after Butland was sold to Hull in a separate deal.

The Croatian ace seems to be the long-term number one for the Gers as they look to return to the top of the William Hill Premiership.

McInnes' squad is starting to gel at Ibrox and the results have been evident for everyone to see.

Pandur signed a four-year contract at the Light Blues, which will keep him at the club until he's 30.

For now, it looks like the Govan side have found a goalkeeper who could be a big part of their potential success under McInnes.
